Our Story at Saree Swap
Swapna and I met in college and got married in 2017. We actually initially started a photo booth business in 2016 with the goal of paying off our school loans. Within a couple of years, we accomplished that goal and with Covid trailing not to far after, we put it to the side and began our next step in life. In 2021, we had our daughter who just a couple of years later, led us to creating "Saree Swap". Never in our lives did we think we would be sitting here making indian dolls, but one thing led to another and we recognized that we really did want our daughter to see more of herself in things she played with. I personally am someone who feels like I always heard the story of South Asians not receiving enough representation, but it took for me to have a daughter to really feel it. Luckily, we live in a time where more and more diversity and representation is available, and we wanted to play a part in that. After a year of research and design (we've never made a toy before), we were able to create "Saree Swap" with our daughter in mind.
We hope everyone (kids and adults as well), can find enjoyment in seeing themselves in the Saree Swap toy. As you switch from outfit to outfit, we hope you can see yourself at every event that you may have worn something similar. We look forward to hearing from everyone who has the chance to get the product and share with us your story!
